What is MBTI and Personality Traits?

MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) is a personality assessment tool used to measure and describe individual differences in psychological preferences. Based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types, MBTI categorizes people into 16 different personality types, each composed of four dimensions:

  1. Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I):
    • Extraversion: Gains energy from the external world and enjoys social interactions.
    • Introversion: Gains energy from the internal world and enjoys solitude and introspection.
  2. Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N):
    • Sensing: Values practical and concrete information, focuses on details.
    • Intuition: Values abstract and future possibilities, focuses on the big picture.
  3. Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F):
    • Thinking: Makes decisions based on logic and objective criteria, focuses on facts.
    • Feeling: Makes decisions based on values and relationships, focuses on feelings.
  4. Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P):
    • Judging: Prefers structure and planning, values organization and decisions.
    • Perceiving: Prefers flexibility and spontaneity, values adaptability and options.
